Luxe & Lilies

Hi everyone! I'm back from my conference but still trying to catch up so Kelly from Luxe & Lilies has been kind enough to entertain you today.

I asked Keely the same question I asked myself... I want my home to be ______

and Kelly has done a great job telling you about her home....

Hi! I'm Keely from luxe + lillies and I'm excited to share with you all my home for the first for the first time! Jessica asked us to fill in the blank...
I want my home to be... comfortable a place to find peace and familiarity from the hectic world...

I want my home to be... a representation of who we are, together and indivdually [ its important to keep things in our home that remind us of where we came from, and where we are going]

I want my home to be... a place with style, somewhere that inspires me everyday...

Our apartment is small, and I wanted to make the very most out of all the spaces I had. The apartment is completely white, and while unsure of it when we moved in, I have learned to completely embrace the cleanliness and fresh feeling of the palette. However, with so much white space in the main area [ which is open floor plan] I wanted to add a little character which was easy to do through a few pieces without transforming the apartment with paint...

I took home a few of the paper menu's from a from one of our local favorites with a drink menu to die for that boasts silly names [good morning bangkok, crack ho mojito] and framed it as a "menu" for our own bar.

Finally our bedroom. This is a sanctuary for M too, and its important that the space we share as that fits his personality. Crisp white bedding is a must for both of us, and with the palette of white, it was essential to bring in some soft elements. I used velvets, faux furs, and silks to create texture that was masculine and luxurious

Thank You SO much Jessica for having me today!

Looky Looky

Have you all seen Kate Spade's Holiday Lookbook? You must go now.

Aren't these gorgeous?

In addition, I found out about a sneak peak to Kate's 2011 Campaign. It's all about color with each month focusing on a color. How awesome is that. I will admit that I did not come to this information on my own. I heard about it over at Pink Preppy Lilly Lover (lovely new to me blog) who blogged about this Martha Stewart article. Check out this preview!

Sorry for the quality but don't you think it will be fabulous?!

Game On

Some of my earliest memories are of packing up on cold Saturday mornings and driving an hour to Columbia, South Carolina to watch the USC Gamecocks play. My mom loaded up the car with a huge tailgate and we sat in the cold and ate before climbing into the upper deck to watch the game (my dad's priority is much better now so we can watch the game without binoculars).

Going to games is one of my favorites things to. Luckily my team colors are black and garnet so outfits like the one below are easy to pick out...

Clothes from J.Crew, Boots from Garnet Hill

While I do like going to the games, I also enjoy being at home watching the game in High Def and tailgating in my living room. I found all of these cute items that could be easily monogrammed to reflect your favorite team. I love these.

Plates, Bowl and Bag from LA Plates, Ice Buckets and Shakers from Dabney Lee at Home.

What about you? Do you love college football?

Inspired...

I started thinking the other day, what do I want my home to be?

I decided that I wanted my home to be INSPIRED...

I want my home to be filled with things that I love. Not things I am okay with or things that fill up a space but things I love. Rooms like above that truly feel like the owner loves every single element. I want that.

What about you? What do you want your home to be?

I am thinking about starting a series on this and asking bloggers to do a moodboard. Anyone interested?

PS- I made that moodboard on the Moodboard app on my iPad. Awesome.

Crabby

Happy Weekend to all! Luckily it's the first weekend of fall and we are supposed to dip into the 80s here. It's been in the 90s all week and not very fall like.

Here are my favorites this Friday!

Loving Anthology Magazine. I love that people still hang onto their teddy bears like me and the easy style in every page.

I also love...

Benches from Garnet Hill.

Loving Rue...

and more Rue.

Love this chalkboard feature from Style Files. It looks like a bistro!

Hope everyone has a lovely week. I am heading off to the coast this weekend for a conference. Brutal honesty.... I am totally dreading it including the 4 hour drive. I will appreciate good thoughts and prayers for my husband who I worry about when I am away.

Happy Weekend!

Yay for Fall!

Although it's still 90 degrees here.

Combination Living Room

I want to take these four rooms, wad them up and then live in it....

Okay that makes no sense but I am in need of living room inspiration and I love a mixture of these four rooms.

So excited!

Golden Rules

I just finished Tim Gunn's Book, Gunn's Golden Rules. I saw him on Jon Stewart and he was hilarious so I decided to pick it up and I really enjoyed it. I have to say I enjoyed the first half better than the last half but it was a quick and enjoyable read.

The book is broken down into his "golden rules", which basically consist of minding your manners, taking risks, hard work and doing what you love. He does use these rules to tell personal stories some of which have gotten a lot of press (particularly one featuring a certain Vogue editor). He does give insight into the show Project Runway and how it started and his role in its inception. The stories are honest and very interesting.

I loved the reminders the book includes. Little courtesies that today we forget and ignore like writing thank you notes, being a good guest, being a good host, being careful how you communicate with others and my favorite was taking the high road. I really needed that reminder.

I highly recommend the book to anyone who likes Tim Gunn and anyone who like Project Runway will enjoy it. Great, quick and fun read.

I Heart Screens

I think I want one for my living room. Love these from the J.Crew Wedding Boutique in NYC.
