The Two Lindsays and Why I'm an Idiot

So yesterday I posted my blogger feature all about Lindsay at La Belle Vie (who is still adorable and one of my faves); however, the interview was actually with Lindsay of Starfish and Sundresses. I'm a total idiot and got them confused. Of course Lindsay at La Belle Vie thought I was crazy (although sweetly thankful of the mention) and the other Lindsay at Starfish and Sundresses sent me a very kind email telling me I had gotten them confused. Of course this all happens on the one day of the year that I do not check my blog AT ALL because I had to work and then throw a party last night. I'm a total idiot. Secondly, I took the post down and accidentally deleted it. Now I'm an even bigger idiot. Anyway this is the sort of week I had. I sliced my finger open on my food processor, broke the same food processor, stole pens at work and got in trouble (long story we will now refer to this only as "Pen Gate") but I did help put a cocaine dealer in prison though.

Anyway now onto Lindsay at Starfish and Sundresses. I just started reading this blog about 3 months ago and it's one of my favorites. I love Lindsay's style particularly her post on Lucite. Anyway, the interview yesterday (yeah the one I inadvertently deleted) was the Lindsay of Starfish and Sundresses and she's just a doll. Be sure to check out her blog if you don't already. Here's some eye candy from her blog (I love the inspiration board).

BTW, Lindsay of La Belle Vie adorable as well!

Good Weekends to Everyone!

Fusion

I find that I am always drawn to spaces that involve some sort of fusion of ideas. My favorite mixture is modern rustic. I love the clean simplicity of the modern pieces accompanied by rustic accents and architecture.

What about you?

A Death

Don't let the title fool you. I am very happy about this death. No it's not Rush Limbaugh or the Twilight Series. My food processor bit the dust tonight amidst a truffle making experience. It was almost a relief and I am relishing the thought of throwing the da&* thing away. I hate that food processor with every fiber of my being. It is the bane of my existence and as my husband can tell you I have a very volatile relationship with that stupid appliance. All I will say is that 9 times out of 10 I end up throwing things.

Anyway I am super excited about a new food processor that I hope is heading my way soon. I like this one. It has a mini chopper that fits inside the main bowl inside. How cool is that?!

Welcome

I love a cozy guest bedroom and I always have wanted a nice private cozy place for our guests to stay. We definitely don't have that now but it's a goal nevertheless. These are some of my favorite guest bedroom essentials and Martha Stewart has a great article about how to be the perfect hostess. I love these ideas.

Of course first and foremost I need gorgeous bedding and a comfy interior.

A teapot and tea is such a cute idea.

Martha Stewart suggested assembling a group of essentials like water, towels, etc.

How pretty is his water and ice bucket. I would be so excited to have that beside my bed.

What I'm Reading

I picked up Water for Elephants this weekend at Target and I am excited to start reading. First, I finished up Staying True by Jenny Sanford.

Some of you may have no idea who Jenny Sanford is but she is the soon to be ex-wife of SC Governor Mark Sanford, whose affair and disappearance from the state for several days caused quite the stir a few months ago. I read this book out of blatant and morbid curiosity and although I strive to avoid any political talk on my blog I will say that I am not a Mark Sanford fan period and I never was one and I never voted for the man. That being said the book was a quick read and really just chronicles their marriage, political life and the affair that ended their marriage. I do admire Jenny Sanford's faith and dedication to her children throughout what was a horrible end to her marriage.

In case you have no idea what I am talking about here is none other than a fellow South Carolinian Steve Colbert to explain the events that brought down Governor Mark Sanford...

Gotta love The Colbert Report.

Target Bedroom

My sister and I spent an hour or two in Target this weekend. Normally I am there with my husband who is scuffing his feet and whining the entire time (he hates Target). I got to look around and there are some cute things! My sister wants to redo her bedroom but on a budget. We got so many cute ideas in Target. Here's what we came up with...

For the Bedroom...

For the Bath....

Featured Blogger: Russet Street Reno

Hey girls! It's Friday and time for the Featured Blogger of the Week

I love this blog all about renovating and decorating. Sara is so down to earth and witty that all of that renovation seems so fun. My favorite project of hers is one that I am super jealous of...

She has a dressing room in her house and it's gorgeous! Thanks Sara for letting us all see your unique perspective and creativity at work!

So here's Sara...

1. I Cannot Live Without…Oxygen, and my laptop.

2. My Favorite Place On Earth is... my bed. Thank goodness, it was more expensive than a vacation!

3. I Am Inspired By…blogs, magazines, houses in my neighborhood, friends and family. You never know where you will find inspiration!

4. I Describe My Style As…Modern Traditional. Above all, useful. I hate things that don't serve a purpose, they just collect dust. And I hate dusting!

5. My Favorite Accessory - For myself, silver hoop earrings. They can make you feel polished even while wearing a t-shirt and jeans. For my house, candles in pretty candleholders.

6. To Relax I…Have some wine and watch a movie with my man.

7. I Am Most Proud Of…my ability to renovate and design my home without much help.

8. My Top Design Tip...research fully, take your time, and realize that what works in another space may not work in yours. Ok, maybe that is three tips?

9. I Want…someone to plan my wedding for me (and how about pay for it, too?)

10. I Love to Shop at...TJ Maxx and Target. They have great stuff, and you get so much more for the money than you would shopping at Pottery Barn.

11. I Don’t Leave the House Without…organic lip balm. I keep several in my car, at my desk at work, and one in the pocket of every coat. Obsessed!

12. I Love to Wear….bright colors, high heels, ruffled tops, cardigans, sweater vests over dress shirts, 'Silver' jeans, hoop earrings.

13. I Love to Read….chic lit and classics.

14. My Guilty Pleasure…sleeping in, then staying in my pjs all day drinking coffee, reading blogs, celebrity gossip sites, and watching Flip This House or HGTV.

15. I Envy…those who have endless energy and are extremely creative.

16. I Have Never.…operated a snowblower. And I don't intend to!

17. My Crush….Ryan Reynolds, what a total package. Seriously.

18. Random Favorites...pecan pie, black bean tacos, hydrangeas, 'Dexter', 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', Shopaholic books, warm weather, U2.

19. Signature Colors...teal, red, brown.

20. At the end of the day, I am…glad to come home to my wonderful house, my handsome man, and my ridiculous cats. And wine. It's always good to come home to wine.
